The Niagara Escarpment (aka the Giant's Rib) was a formidable physical barrier to early explorers in Ontario. Steep cliffs, rocky ground, and large creeks also made navigation difficult for these adventurers. The Raid the Rib Adventure Run takes place on the Niagara Escarpment so participants can expect lots of technical running and some interesting navigational challenges as they Raid the Rib. The Raid the Rib Adventure Run is race #3 of the Ontario Adventure Racing Series. For more information visit Ontario Adventure Racing.
*no pets permitted at race headquarters or on course.

DontGetLost Adventure Running Series participants have a choice between several course and categories in each race. The course route is not known until teams pick up their race kits.
RAID: "Choose Your Adventure Run" format. The course will have teams of three racing over a 4 hour time limit, on a course that involves intermediate trail running and trekking skills and intermediate to advanced navigation skills. Teams have up to four hours to get as many of the checkpoints that are scattered throughout the terrain.  Each checkpoint will be rated as green, blue, black diamond and double black diamond difficulty depending on the running and navigation challenges and skills needed to find the checkpoint. Because you 'Choose your adventure run', the order and difficulty of the checkpoints you visit is completely up to you. Teams are required to carry personal and team gear and there are normally several food and aid stations on the course.
Choose between the following RAID categories: Coed, Male, Female, Masters (average age over 45).

HALF-RAID: This course is half the time of the full raid course, with a 2 hour time limit. The Half Raid course will be run on similar terrain to the Full Raid, with checkpoints rated in a similar manner. Green, blue, black diamond and double black diamond symbols on the map indicate the difficulty. Intermediate trail running and trekking ability and beginner to intermediate navigation skills are recommended. Teams are required to carry personal and team gear and there will be an aid station on the course. This is a great course for juniors, teams that are new to the sport and experienced racers that are looking for a shorter race than the full raid distance.

Choose between the following HALF-RAID: Open-Half, Junior (ages 13-18).

All participants are required to review the DontGetLost Adventure Running Series RAID Rules and carry the RAID Required Gear during the race. All teams are required to hand in a completed waiver during registration.
The maps do not include a legend on them. Print this legend and bring it with you on race day if you are not famliar with our detailed adventure running maps.
