Golden Horseshoe Orienteering (GHO)
Dontgetlost-GHO is a group of adventure runners who also race in regional, national and international orienteering races. Orienteering and off trail running are two of the core sports of adventure running so it should come as no surprise that our members have had great success in orienteering. In fact, orienteering is our foundation sport and our Golden Horseshoe Orienteering group has been a leader in North American orienteering racing and training for over 40 years. GHO members have won 22 elite National titles and 7 elite North American titles since 1975 (more than any other club). Our elite champions include Ted de St. Croix, Mike Waddington, Ron Lowry, Mark Adams and Pam James. GHO members have also represented Canada at many elite, junior and masters World Orienteering Championships with Ted de St. Croix placing 10th at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships. The Dontgetlost.ca Athlete of Year award is named after Ted.
So why do they excel at orienteering? Because we Dontgetlost! Join Dontgetlost Adventure Running today and join our GHO training group and improve your running and navigation skills. We train on Tuesday and Thursday nites (Chedoke Golf Club in Hamilton) and Saturday mornings with our Dontgetost-XCT group. Our group also organizes weekend navigation training in forests across southern Ontario (schedule coming soon) with our Dontgetlost-AR group. Several members also go to training camps organized by either the national federation or other clubs in Canada or US and if you like a schedule of navigational training sessions,

. These training sessions are a great way for members of all abilities to become faster runners and better orienteers. Dontgetlost-GHO members will also participate in several local and national races (2011 race calendar coming soon).

Not only will GHO continue to financially support our Team Dontgetlost athletes that attend the World Orienteering Championships and the Junior World Orienteering Championships but we will assist our top junior, elite and masters athletes to attend other important national races and training camps (including the Sass Peepre Junior Training Camp).
