ARK SNOW DAY! is a fun day in the snow - ADVENTURE RUNNING KIDS style!
Forms part of the Icebreaker - Race #4 of the Ontario Cup Winter Adventure Running Series

Details:
Kicking off with a fun nav based race. Kids have two choices:
You can make your selection when registering. It is suggested that kids in the main ARK program take part in the Kids Icebreaker race, those in ARK Attack or ARX and confident with off-trail navigation compete in the O-Cup race. After that we will have a short break, refuel with some snacks provided and then we finish off with a combination of man-tracker and capture the flag. Hide treasure whilst searching for other teams hidden bounty. Some kids will be bounty hunters - stealing treasure from all teams for themselves.
The organised event will conclude around 1pm, but feel free to spend the rest of the day exploring the Conservation Area.

Registration: Registration is now open!
Gear for Snow Day! More specific gear becomes a necessity - a dry, warm kids is a happy kid!
Socks: Wool or even better, Smart Wool. Keeps feet warm and wicks away moisture. While you're at it, pick up some small, waterproof ankle gaiters - it keeps the snow from getting into shoes.
Shoes: What we suggest for Spring and Fall works just as well for winter. You can get shoes that incorporate Gore-Tex to keep all the snow out, but they can be pricey. Layers: A good base layer (top and bottom) and a synthetic, moisture resistant outer shell. It goes without saying, but also remember gloves and toque. The three main no nos of winter running are:
