SALOMON GIANT'S RIB RAID

The Niagara Escarpment (aka the Giant's Rib) was a formidable physical barrier to early explorers in southern Ontario. Steep cliffs, rocky ground, and large creeks also made navigation difficult for these adventurers. The Salomon Dontgetlost Giant's Rib Raid takes place on the Niagara Escarpment so teams can expect lots of technical running and some interesting navigational challenges as they Raid the Rib. The Salomon Dontgetlost Giant's Rib Raid is the final race in the Salomon Dontgetlost Adventure Running Series.

April 13: Registration to the Giant's Rib Raid has been reopened for any teams wishing to register at this time. Registration will remain open until midnight Wednesday, April 17. Also, any registered teams unable to compete on Sunday because of the reschedule are asked to contact the registrar using the contact email provided below.

Attention all Giant's Rib Raid racers: this is an advance warning that the schedule for the Giant's Rib Raid MAY change over the next few hours, as weather conditions in the area of Rocky Ridge Ranch continue to evolve. At this time (14:30 EST Friday) it is raining ice from the trees at the race site, making conditions too dangerous for our intrepid course planner to be out in the woods. In addition, The Ranch (and many other locations in the area) is currently without power due to fallen trees and a snapped hydro pole. In short, it's downright ugly out there at this time.

Consequently we are considering all options with respect to the race tomorrow. We will attempt to make a final decision by early evening, at which point a follow up email will be broadcast. Possible outcomes include going ahead with the race tomorrow (possibly with a delayed start time), delaying the race to Sunday, and delaying the race to a subsequent weekend. Please bear with us while we work out the best option, and please understand that any change to the schedule will be made with your safety first and foremost in our minds.

Entry fee:	Raid: Early $185/team (before March 9, 2013); Regular $205/team (before March 30, 2013); Late $225/team (before April 17, 2013). Half-Raid: Early $170/team (before March 9, 2013); Regular $190/team (before March 30, 2013); Late $210/team (before April 17, 2013). Juniors: Early $70/team(by March 9, 2013); Regular $90/team (by March 30, 2013); Late $110/team (before April 17, 2013). NOTE: Race entry fee does not include entry fee to the race site. $3.50 will be collected per vehicle at the entrance to site. On top of the usual environmental reasons, parking is limited, so please consider car pooling. Awards & Prizes:	Lots of draw prizes from Salomon, Running Free and Fox River. Awards will be given to the first place team in all categories and to the top 3 teams in all categories with at least 10 entries. Junior division prizes provided by Skiis & Biikes.
