COLLINGWOOD WATERFRONT MAP ADVENTURE

APRIL 26, 2026

10 am

Welcome to the Collingwood Waterfront Map Adventure!

This will be an urban and park orienteering event where you will use a detailed map to find checkpoints around the beautiful Collingwood waterfront area. Whether you're a first-time navigator or an experienced racer, this will be a fun challenge for people of all ages and fitness levels. You may run or walk but please obey traffic signals and be courteous to others. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

START LOCATION

Meet in the parking lot at the north end of Birch St. This is next to the Collingwood Rowing Club at 3 Birch St, Collingwood. Please check in between 9:00 am and 9:40 am. There will be a Course Planner briefing at 9:45 am and the event will start at 10 am.

COURSE AND CATEGORIES:

This is an individual event except for those in the Family Category but individual participants are welcome to go out together.

You will be given a map with marked checkpoints that you will visit on foot. (No bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, etc.) When you find a checkpoint, you will either find a punch that you'll use to mark a card you'll be carrying or else you'll need to answer a question using information found nearby. The time limit will be 75 minutes.

We'll begin with a set of checkpoints that everyone must visit in sequence. Then for those who have time, there will be a number of optional checkpoints spread out over a larger distance around the waterfront area. Participants who visit more checkpoints within the 75-minute time limit will earn a higher score.

A compass may be useful but is not mandatory. A limited number of loaner compasses will be available - first come, first served. This event will be suitable for people of all ages who are comfortable using a map in an urban area.
